BOYS’ LACROSSE

PORTLAND 13, BIDDEFORD 6: Miki Silva and Grant Jacobson scored four goals apiece as the Bulldogs (8-1) cruised past the Tigers (4-5) at Portland.

Evan Bay added two goals, and Cyrus MacCachran and Nico Leavitt also scored for Portland, which led 7-4 at halftime.

Biddeford took a 4-3 heading into the second quarter but Portland answered with five consecutive goals to put some separation between the two teams.

The Tigers cut the margin to three, 9-6, but weren’t able to climb over the hump on the Bulldogs’ Senior Night.

Nick McSorely led Biddeford with three goals. Bryce Pray scored twice and Kaigan Munch added a goal.

The Tigers are in the thick of a playoff race, entering Wednesday’s action sitting as the No. 7 seed in Class B. Biddeford travels to Thornton Academy on Friday, hosts Noble Wednesday and concludes the regular season at home against Marshwood on Senior Night.

Biddeford Coach Jason Martel said at the Tigers practice on Thursday that he felt his team has a great shot to make the playoffs with one or two more wins.

BONNY EAGLE 11, MARSHWOOD 10: In a matchup of one-loss teams, Bonny Eagle stormed back from a 6-2 halftime deficit and beat Marshwood 11-10 in a boys’ lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon.

Junior midfielder Jonathan Merrill scored the winning goal with less than a minute remaining. He got off a shot while falling down that nicked off goalie Connor Hohn’s stick and went in. Hohn had just made a save on a harder shot, but Marshwood couldn’t clear the rebound.

“Someone shot it and it hit off the goalie and it was down on the ground, so I knew I had to get it,” Merrill said.

Dylan Cobbett led the Scots (8-1) with three goals. Merrill, Griffin Madore and Alex Dyer each scored twice.

Cooper Ross scored three goals for Marshwood (7-2). Sean Maguire and Henry Honkonen added two apiece.

CHEVERUS 17, SANFORD 2: Jacob Sargen collected five goals and two assists, Ethan Hammond had three goals and two assists, and Will Haley added two goals and two assists as the Stags (2-7) handled the Spartans (0-9) in Portland.

Anthony Nguyen and Jacob McLeod scored for Sanford.

WINDHAM 17, NOBLE 1: Tommy Lekousi collected five goals and four assists, and Liam McCusker added five goals and two assists as the Eagles (9-0) downed the Knights (1-8) at Windham.

Ben Elliott made seven saves for Windham.

BASEBALL 

YARMOUTH 5, WELLS 2: Aaron Belesca capped a four-run rally with a suicide squeeze that drove in two runs as the Clippers (7-5) defeated the Warriors (5-6) in Wells.

Max Brewer scored from third and John Jordan raced home from second on Belesca’s bunt.

William Cox accounted for two of the Clippers’ six hits.

Brayden Fazzina had a double and single for Wells. Matt Tufts added two singles.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 4, RICHMOND 1: Andrew Charron had an RBI double and Sean Pratt added an RBI single as the Seagulls (5-9) cruised past the Bobcats (7-4) in Old Orchard Beach.

Peter Coleman added a sacrifice fly. Pratt scored a run.

Dakotah Gilpatric had an RBI single for Richmond.

SOFTBALL

NOBLE 5, DEERING 1: Raegan Kelly pitched a no-hitter and recorded her 400th career strikeout as the Knights (11-2) beat the Rams (1-12) at North Berwick.

Kelly singled home Lexi Volinsky in the first inning. Noble added three runs in the fourth, highlighted by Molly Griffin’s two-run double.

Kassidy Lessard hit an RBI double in the fifth, driving home Kelsey Lessard.

Kelly finished with nine strikeouts.

THORNTON ACADEMY 10, WESTBROOK 4: Jenica Botting drove home four runs with three hits and also scored a run for the Trojans (15-1) in a win over the Blue Blazes (5-9) in Saco.

Olivia Howe also had three hits and a run scored, and struck out eight in four innings.

Mikayla VanZandt finished with two hits for Westbrook.

MARSHWOOD 9, GORHAM 3: Lauren Leidemann-Smith pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and had two hits and two RBI as the Hawks (4-9) pulled away from the Rams (5-10) at South Berwick.

Mackenzie Davis hit an RBI double and an RBI single, Emerson Colbath-Stevens had an RBI single, and Reid Johnson contributed a sacrifice fly.

Morgan Roast singled home a run for Gorham, which took advantage of a throwing error to score three runs in the third inning.

MASSABESIC 21, FALMOUTH 1: Julia Gregoire went 3 for 4 with a home run and six RBI to lead 21-hit attack for the Mustangs (10-4) in a five-inning win over the Yachtsmen (0-14) at Waterboro.

Grace Tutt had four hits, Emily Morin and Zoe DeAngelis added three hits apiece, and Emily Davison, Marissa Goodwin and Paige Houk also had multi-hit games.

Kaitlyn Shaw gave up only one hit – an RBI double by Cameron Birks in the fourth inning.

WELLS 4, YARMOUTH 3: Karissa Kenyon hit a double, stole third and scored the go-ahead run on an error in the fifth inning as the Warriors (5-8) edged the Clippers (4-8) in Wells.

Kenyon and Sohia Zurlo each had two hits for Wells.

Tasha Powers collected two hits for Yarmouth.
