AUGUSTA — A Saco woman was killed in a crash on I-95 in Augusta on Saturday night, that left the passenger of another car critically injured.
Sierra Prescott, 22, of Saco was killed instantly after driving her car in the wrong lane and colliding head-on with two other cars on the northbound lane of I-95 in Augusta between exits 109 and 112 around 8:30 p.m, said Maine Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland in a press release.
Shuba Raja, 44, a passenger in another car, was critically injured and flown by the Lifeflight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, said McCausland. Raja was a passenger in a car driven by Vikram Kumar, 40, of Bangor, said McCausland.
The third vehicle involved in the crash was driven by Frederick Homans, 61, of Northport, said McCausland.
Both Homans and Kumar were taken to Maine General with minor injuries, he said.
McCausland said investigators on Sunday were trying to determine why Prescott was driving in the wrong lane.
The northbound lanes of the interstate in Augusta were closed for three hours on Saturday night as troopers investigated the crash.
