ARUNDEL — At about 1:15 p.m. Friday, York County Sheriff deputies responded to a one vehicle crash on Long Cabin Road near the intersection of Lombard Road in Arundel.
Upon arrival, deputes discovered that Leila Jahncke, 78, of Kennebunk was operating a 2006 Toyota Corolla on Log Cabin Road when she reportedly fell asleep, according to Sheriff William L. King Jr.
Her vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, shearing it in half and sending live wires to the ground, King said. The live wires caused a small grass fire which was extinguished quickly by the Arundel Fire Department. Jahncke was not injured.
The road was closed for approximately 45 minutes until utilities workers replaced the pole and the vehicle was removed.
