In an effort to help keep York County residents warm this winter, the York County Community Action Corporation Knitting Circle has been busy crafting hats, mittens and scarves for adults and children. This is the second year in a row where members have hand-knit nearly 600 pieces for local distribution.
Pictured, from left, are knitters Cindy Shoppe, Jerry Horn, Marilyn Earle, Kathryn Leveille, Emily Hammerle, Lynda Bloom, Evelyn Proulx, and Isabelle Coleman (seated). Knitters missing from the photo are Kay Meyerhoff, Roberta Goldsmith, Dolores Holding, Janet Smith, Doris Grondin, Mia Auger and friends, Emelia Giordano, Norma Girard, Connie Day, Betty Mills, Betty Chaleki, Shirley Ross, and Kathy Romprey.
Organizations or others who could benefit from these knit goods, or those wishing to join the knitting group, may contact Ericka Sanborn, YCCAC development manager, at 459-2938. COURTESY PHOTO

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
