SACO — Raymond B. Boughner, 86, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 13, 1932, a son of Raymond Joseph and May Elizabeth (Kellogg) Boughner. He was a graduate of Eastern High School in Detroit, Michigan and attended Wayne State University.
Ray served in the United States Navy as a pilot. He married his wife Carol on May 4, 1968.
He was employed as service director for General Motors for 30 years, retired in January of 1987.
Ray was a member of the Saco Masonic Lodge in Saco for 39 years, serving as Lodge Master from 1990 to 1991.
His hobbies included flying, automobiles and inventing. He enjoyed researching various projects online and had a passion for building things.
Mr. Boughner was an active member of the Cornerstone Methodist Church in Saco, volunteering at many church functions, helping as an usher and was a member of the men’s club. He also orchestrated and engineered the design of the church cross.
Most of all, Ray loved his family and the time he spent with them, especially his granddaughter Sienna. The family has created many special memories that they will cherish and hold on to forever. We remind ourselves that his life is to be celebrated. Although we will miss him everyday, he will remain in our hearts. He will be sadly missed.
He was predeceased by one daughter Sally A. Boughner on Oct. 8, 2006 and by three brothers, Michael, Robert and John Boughner.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Brown) Boughner; his daughter Diana Lynn Roberge and her husband Scott; his granddaughter Sienna Lynn Roberge; and two sisters-in-law Bobbie Boughner and Norma Jean Bentz.
Visiting Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
