LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center was recently designated an Aetna Institute of Quality Cardiac Care Facility for comprehensive heart and vascular treatment.
The hospital, and its Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, were selected for the honor by consistently delivering evidence-based, safe cardiac care, according to Aetna. Aetna makes information about the quality and cost of health care services available to its members to help them make informed decisions about their health care needs. In line with this goal, Aetna recognizes hospitals and facilities in its network that offer specialized clinical services for certain health conditions.
“This recognition goes to the core of why I came to CMHVI in the first place,” said Dr. Paul Weldner, a cardiac surgeon. “The institute has always advanced, providing the best cardiac care to our patients by assembling a team of outstanding clinicians who utilize cutting-edge technology — in a hospital environment that provides exceptional patient experience. I’ve never worked in a setting such as this.”
