Myron B. York was born on August 20, 1955, in Bath, Maine, to Marjorie and Bernard York. Myron was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 62 and although he knew he only had several months to live, he maintained a positive attitude towards life. Within this time frame, he found the Lord. Myron went to be with Him on May 19, 2018.
At the age of 18, Myron served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the Sagadahoc Sheriff ’s Department upon his completion in the army. Myron was also employed at Bath Iron Works as a ship fitter.
Myron married Elizabeth Boudreau in 1979 with whom he shared 15 of his most special memorable years of his life including having his children. In 1991, he was the coach for the Bath Little League baseball team and enjoyed watching his son, Jeremy play. Myron also played on a league named “Cahills” in Bath with longtime friend, Ron Kaler.
Although he grew up in West Point, he spent a lot of his life in the Bath area as well as the Gardiner area. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting for deer, fishing, any type of seafood, crab meat rolls, cooking and spending time with his dog, Maggie. Going to camp at Damariscotta Lake and fishing out of his boat with family and friends was one of his favorite pastimes. Myron loved baseball and football, especially the Red Sox and Patriots! He was also extremely fond of ice cream!
Myron was predeceased by both parents and brother, Frederick as well as his great grandson, Kayden Adams of Virginia.
Myron is survived by his brother, Gene and wife, Judy York, sister in-law, Josephine York; his cherished children, daughter, Brianne York (his “Briannie-Bop”) of West Bath and son, Jeremy York of Bath; grandchildren, Hailey York-Adams of Virginia and Logan York of Florida; nieces and nephews including Kim Shade and Gene York, Gary and Michelle Morong and their daughter Hannah; his very best friend, Wayne Bailey, and his beloved dog, Maggie whom happily resides with his dear friend, Millie Perry of Harpswell.
An extensive amount of gratitude is expressed to all of the nurses, doctors and staff at the Togus VA Hospital in Chelsea where Myron spent his final months and was adored by all who met him.
There will be a private celebration of life in West Point as well as a military service at Morningside Cemetery held at a later date.
In honor of Myron, please make contributions to the Togus VA Hospital in Chelsea or do a simple act of kindness.
