BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School eighth-grade softball team battled Oxford Hills to a 4-4 stalemate on Friday.
Morgan Foster bunted her way to first to start the game. She continued to make her way around on steals and passed balls, tying the game 1-1.
Brunswick tallied two more runs in the second with a hit by Logan Brown, but Oxford Hills matched the runs in the third.
Mia Desantis scored the go-ahead run in the fourth, and Foster and the Brunswick defense kept Oxford Hills at three runs. Logan Brown’s quick backhand at second base allowed the Huskies to keep the lead.
However, an error allowed Oxford Hills to score the tying run in the seventh.
Kelsey Sullivan’s single put the winning run on base in the home half of the seventh, but the Vikings stranded the runner to end the contest.
