One recipient from each Maine county earned a scholarship. Saucier and other winners were awarded their scholarships in the Maine Senate.
Saucier was accompanied in the Senate Chamber by her parents, Jeff and Christine Saucier; her brother, Jacob Saucier; and her sister, Gracie Saucier.
Saucier’s senator, State Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford; Legislative Memorial Scholarship Committee Co-Chair Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham; Sen. David Woodsome, R-North Waterboro; and Sen. Ron Collins, R-Wells, presented the scholarship check in the Senate Chamber.
The Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund is administered by the Finance Authority of Maine. The Fund was created by the Maine Legislature and staff to annually recognize one student from each county, who is currently or is planning to pursue education at a two- or four-year degree-granting Maine college or technical school.
This scholarship is available for full or part-time students.
Applications are available for the 2018-2019 round of scholarships and are due on May 1. They can be found at https://www.famemaine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/2018_MLMSapplication-W.pdf.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
