KENNEBUNK — “Natural Shocks,” a one-woman play by Lauren Gunderson will be presented at 6:30 p.m., Monday, April 23 at the First Universalist Unitarian Church, 114 Main St. in Kennebunk, next to the Kennebunk Free Library.
Natural Shocks is based on Hamlet’s most famous speech but with a twist. and this reading will be held as part of national campaign of theater activism against gun violence.
The reading of the play will feature Kennebunk resident Leslie Trentalange and is directed by Michael Tobin.
Readings of this play are taking place all across the country this month and the readings are intended to mark the 19th anniversary of the Columbine school shooting.
The play is part confessional, part stand-up, and part reckoning.
Gunderson’s play features a woman in her basement preparing for an imminent tornado.
The story features drama and secrets and brings the reality of gun violence in America to the forefront.
The event features free admission, with no tickets necessary.
Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
Moms Demand Action is a national, bipartisan grassroots movement of Americans demanding solutions to the gun violence.
