BUXTON — A school bus driver involved in a crash with a 2007 Toyota Corolla on Route 202 on Tuesday afternoon has been cited for her role in the accident.

According to Buxton Police Chief Troy A. Cline, Buxton officers and fire-rescue personnel responded to a crash about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on Narragansett Trail (Route 202) at the intersection of Brewster Place.

Cline said that the school bus was driven by Lisa Young, 53, of Buxton, and was attempting a left turn from Brewster Place onto Route 202 when it pulled into the path of the Corolla, which was driven by Nicole Taber of Waterboro, 39.

The vehicles collided, but Cline said accident investigators determined that Taber, who was not injured in the accident, had the right of way while traveling westerly on Route 202.

He said that there were nine students on the bus at the time of the accident and one of the students was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The 2013 Blue Bird school bus sustained minor damage in the accident. 

Cline said that Young complained of shoulder pain following the accident, but she was able to assist in obtaining information from students riding as passengers on the bus when it crashed. 

Young was issued a summons by police for failure to the yield right of way.
