LOS ANGELES — Former Brunswick High School swimming standout Caitlin Tycz has begun her college career with a bit of success, swimming for the University of Southern California.
In the classroom, Tycz, a multi-record holder for the Dragons and Long Reach Swim Club, made the first semester Dean’s List with a 3.7 grade-point average.
In the pool, USC is entering the Pac-10 championship season, and Tycz has qualified in both the 100 and 200 butterfly. The championship is set to be held in March, along with the NCAA Championship.
During a meet against rival UCLA, Tycz captured a win with a season-best B cut time of 1:55.57 in the 200 fly.
Tycz came back later and earned a big win in the 100 fly, touching in 52.56, another season-best B cut-line for the freshman.
