They put together a contest — and there’s still time to enter.
“We received some truly inspiring entries in our ‘Win A Bike’ essay contest earlier this year to distribute the bicycles donated by Evonik Cyro,” said Matt Ouellette, YMCA Youth and Family Services director. “With the holidays approaching, we have decided to extend the opportunity for more individuals or families to receive a new bicycle until Dec. 15th.”
Evonik Cyro has generously donated a variety of bikes for all ages in several different styles. During a yearly event, staff at Evonik Cyro assembled each bike by hand in addition to gathering supplies for the Sanford Backpack Program.
All folks — young or not-so-young, have to do to enter is write down how receiving a new bicycle would help then achieve personal wellness goals or live a happier, healthier life.
Folks should email YMCA Youth and Family Services Director Matt Ouellette at mouellette@sanfordymca.org with their submissions.
Entries must be received by the Dec. 15 deadline.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
