BRUNSWICK — What do you think of when you hear the term long-term care? Statistically, if you are 65 or older, 70 percent of those individuals will require some form of care at some point in their remaining years. The need for long-term care is the elephant in the room, the uninvited guest who keeps on growing bigger every year.
The good news is that there is valuable information to help you start planning for this unwelcome guest. Bob Frank and his business partner, Walt Reynolds, work as independent financial planners at their company Ship Shape Financial in the Fort Andross Mill building in Brunswick.
On Wednesday, Nov. 15, they are offering a workshop, free and open to the public, titled: “How to Leverage Your Dollars to Pay for Long- Term Care.” The program will take place at the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick from 6-7 p.m. in the Morrell Room.
They will provide a broad overview of what long-term care is, who needs it, what it costs, and how to pay for it. They will focus on programs and insurance and annuity products that help to leverage assets to pay for care.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
