Operation Kidsafe is free and private for families. Parents take home the only record of the visit, which is a bio document that is ready to hand to law enforcement in an emergency.
Safety tips to start a family safety action plan are also included with the valuable information.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at Arundel Ford, 1561 Portland Road in Arundel.
There will not be any databasing and privacy is assured for parents and children. The entire process takes only as matter of minutes to complete.
Operation KidSafe captures your child’s picture and fingerprints using a digital video capture device, digital ink-less fingerprint capture device, and specialized software.
The captured data is assembled and a quality 8 1/2-inch by 11-inch printout is given to the parent. The parent can use the printout they receive to provide to law enforcement anywhere in the world to instantly aid in an investigation.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
