The investigation and arrests were conducted by a team of agents from the Mid-Coast, Cumberland and York District Task Forces of MDEA and a substantial amount of drugs and several firearms were seized during the operation.
According to Maine Public Safety Spoksesman Steve McCausland, the investigation and arrests by MDEA agents resulted from a follow-up investigation after a non-fatal drug overdose was reported in Bath on Sunday.
Suspects charged included Ales Mena, 20 of Lawrence, Massachusetts for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Class B; Glenn Hagan, 25 of Biddeford for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Class B; Devyn Pushard, 21 of Bath for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Class B; Molena Ward, 19 of Bath for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Class B; and Kimberly Lermond, 34 of Brunswick for Unlawful Trafficking in Schedule Drugs, Class B.
McCausland said that agents conducted surveillance of Pushard as he traveled from Bath along with Molena Ward and Kimberly Lermond to the Walmart parking lot in Biddeford on Monday afternoon.
He said Mid-Coast agents along with agents from the York District Task Force continued surveillance until Hagan met them and allegedly delivered 42 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl to the three.
All four suspects were taken into custody by agents and officers from the Biddeford Police Department without incident.
Hagan and Pushard were arrested and taken to the York County Jail. Ward and Lermond were issued summonses for court and released at the scene.
McCausland said that agents conducted a search of Hagan’s Biddeford apartment and seized about 140 grams of cocaine, 180 grams of heroin/fentanyl, nine firearms, and $4,860 in suspected drug proceeds at that residence. The estimated street value of the drugs is $41,000.
“Continuing the investigation, agents then arranged to meet the suspected supplier of the drugs and an undercover agent from the Cumberland District Task Force met with Ales Mena of Lawrence, Massachusetts at the Maine Mall in South Portland,” McCausland said. “Mena was arrested as he delivered about 50 grams of suspected heroin/fentanyl to the agent.”
Mena was taken to the Cumberland County Jail where cash bail was set at $25,000.
Officers and police dogs from the Biddeford and South Portland Police Departments assisted MDEA throughout the operation.
