
The Brunswick High School volleyball team improved to 4-3 with a 3-1 victory over York on Tuesday.
The Dragons earned the win with set scores of 25-9, 25-23, 18-25, 25-13, giving Brunswick four wins in its last five matches.
Brunswick was led in the victory by junior striker Sophie Katz (nine service aces, four kills, three digs), sophomore Kathleen Trapp (four kills, three digs), senior Tahlya Edgerton (five aces, one kill, two assists) and senior Mackenzie Burrows (five aces, five digs, eight kills).
Brunswick returns to action on Monday at Kennebunk, with match time set for 6 p.m.
Field hockey
BANGOR — In a back-and-forth Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference matchup, Bangor came away with a 4-3 victory over Brunswick.
The Rams jumped out to a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the game as Kate Ruhlin and Gabby Gonzales slipped shots into the cage.
Erin Coughlin put the Dragons on the board with 8:12 remaining in the first half, with Anna Rider picking up an assist.
However, Bangor regrouped as Gonzales scored her second for a 3-1 halftime lead.
The Dragons, who fell to 2- 5 and host Mt. Ararat on Thursday at 4 p.m., battled back in the second half. Rider scored 5:52 in off an assist from Lauren Jacobs, and after Bangor’s Lexi Cunningham scored, Jacobs again made it a one-goal contest off a pass from Hollie Imperator.
Brunswick went for the tie, but a late shot rang off the post.
Libby Felkay had six saves in Brunswick’s cage in the opening half, with Ainsley Harrower turning aside four shots in the second half.

Kayla Leclerc registered a hat trick as the host Hornets rolled to a KVAC win over the Shipbuilders in Turner.
Morse fell to 4-2 and visits Lincoln Academy on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Katelyn Leclerc had two goals for Leavitt, with Madeline Hanscom adding a goal.
Sophie Wilson and Anastasia Alboudi combined on nine saves in the Morse net, and Leah Totman and Haleigh Willis each had a goal.
Girls soccer
BUCKFIELD — Caitlin Kendrick scored the final three goals for Richmond as the Bobcats came away with a 4-1 East-West Conference victory over Buckfield.
Richmond improved to 4-3 and visits Rangeley on Saturday at 11 a.m., while the Bucks fell to 3-2.
Destiny Anair opened the scoring for Richmond just 23 seconds into the game. Kendrick finished off a pass from Ashley Brown for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Anair’s corner kick early in the second half was headed into the goal by Kendrick, and Emily Snowdon set up Kendrick for a 4-0 Richmond lead.
Buckfield’s Julia Dow scored late in regulation.
Goaltender Sydney Underhill Tilton had two saves in the win, with Buckfield’s Cara Morrow making 11 stops.
Boys soccer
BATH — Five players scored a goal each as Brunswick broke into the win column with a 5-0 KVAC victory over Morse at McMann Field.
The Dragons, 1-5 and scheduled to host Hampden Academy on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half. Janish Dahal, Henry Doherty, Lane Foushee and Everett Horch each scored a goal.
In the second half, Mats Rasch added Brunswick’s fifth goal. Lee Taylor, Doherty, Rasch and Horch each picked up an assist.
Jared Hummer and Jack McDiarmid split time in the Brunswick cage, combining on seven saves.
Miles Bobbe turned aside 15 shots in the Morse (1-5-1) net.
The Shipbuilders host Medomak Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Falcons scored three second-half goals to pull away for a Western Maine Conference win over North Yarmouth Academy.
Freeport, which improved to 3-2 and hosts York on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., received a goal and an assist from Eriksen Shea.
Will Winter, Joe Ashby and Shea Wagner each chipped in a goal, while netminder Atticus Patrick had three saves for the shutout.
Connor Clock turned aside five shots for NYA (2-2- 1).

At North Anson, Jacob
Atwood scored the lone goal in the first half as the Cobras (2-3) handed Lisbon its first loss (4-1-1) in Mountain Valley Conference action.
Cole Rugh assisted on Atwood’s goal, while goaltender Brad Clark had 12 saves for the win.
Lisbon’s Jonah Sautter turned away 10 shots.
The Greyhounds visit Hall-Dale on Friday at 4 p.m.

The visiting Raiders came away with an MVC come from behind win over the Wolverines, who fell to 1-5 and host Monmouth on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Wiscasset jumped out to a 1-0 lead as James Hodson converted a rebound.
Oak Hill responded in the second half, receiving a goal each from Vinnie Rinaldi and Riley Worth for the win.

Asa Hodgdon scored first for Morse six minutes into the contest.
Jacob Brochu scored off a set piece at the midway point of the opening frame, and Andrew Dean finished the scoring in the second half off a pass from Paul Ouellette.
