YORK COUNTY — A limited number of paid positions are now available for senior residents of York County.
Sponsored by The Opportunity Alliance, positions are currently available for foster grandparents and senior companions in York County.
Adults ages 55 and over can make a difference in the lives of others while having a great time and earning a little extra money.
Foster Grandparents from The Opportunity Alliance will mentor and support academic achievement of children in schools this coming year.
Senior Companions from The Opportunity Alliance provide companionship, local transportation and a respite to elders seeking to remain living in their homes.
The Senior Volunteer Programs provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for those interested in meeting critical community needs in school, child development centers, Head Start, adult day programs and private homes throughout York and Cumberland counties.
Volunteers living at less than 200 percent of poverty are eligible to receive a non-taxable stipend.
Seniors who are willing to commit to a minimum of 15 hours a week for The Opportunity Alliance and meet generous income guidelines will receive a tax-free stipend, mileage reimbursement and other benefits, including monthly training.
