BIDDEFORD — Unity Food Hub Harvest Share is a program that makes farm fresh foods available to residents and SNAP recipients in southern Maine.
Unity Food Hub is owned and managed by Maine Farmland Trust and “aims to increase markets for Maine farmers while making Maine foods more accessible to more eaters throughout our region.”
It provides shares of fresh food from more than 50 Maine farms and food producers at half price to SNAP/EBT customers.
Customers can choose to receive a veggie share, greens share, meat share, yogurt share, egg share or combination of shares. Shares are flexible and can be picked up year-round on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly schedule.
Local pick up is on Wednesday evenings from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, at the Neighborhood Resource Hub, 46 Sullivan St. in Biddeford.
Unlike many Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, Unity Food Hub offers participants the option to “pay as you go.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
