BOSTON

The Boston Celtics have signed free agent guard Shane Larkin.

The deal was announced by the team on Monday.

Larkin was the 18th overall pick in the 2013 draft by Atlanta before being traded to Dallas on draft night. He played in Spain last season, splitting time between the ACB league, Euroleague and the Spanish Cup.

The 24-year-old University of Miami product averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 assists per game over three seasons playing for the Mavericks, Knicks and Nets.

Teammates again

Aron Baynes and Marcus Morris are happy to be coming to Boston at the same time, if only so they don’t have to play against each other.

Baynes signed with the Celtics as a free agent, and he already has a familiar face in the team’s locker room: Morris, who was acquired in a trade for Avery Bradley on July 7. Baynes said Morris “brings a lot of toughness” to the court, and Celtics assistant general manager Mike Zarren said the 6-foot-10 Australian can do the same.
