BOSTON, Mass. — Emmanuel College celebrated its 95th Commencement Exercises on May 13, 2017, adding hundreds of graduates to the global network of Emmanuel alumni who are making their mark on the world.
At the ceremony, speakers congratulated the graduates on their achievements while also calling on members of the Class of 2017 to serve their communities and work for a greater good. This message was central to the remarks given by Commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient Rosanne Haggerty, M.A., President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Solutions, a New York-based organization dedicated to ending homelessness, strengthening communities and fighting poverty.
Emmanuel’s other honorary degree recipients were also praised for their dedication to helping others and for their professional achievements. At the event, the College conferred an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Wayne A. Budd, Esq., Senior Counsel at Goodwin Procter LLP, and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree on Elaine El-Khawas, Ph.D., Professor Emerita of Education Policy at George Washington University and long-serving member of the Emmanuel College Board of Trustees.
The following are local graduates among the Class of 2017.
Olivia Cavalieri of York earned a bachelor of arts in English — communication & media studies.
Samantha Adams of Sanford earned a bachelor of arts in liberal studies & elementary education. Adams graduated cum laude.
Amanda Cook of Saco earned a bachelor of arts in liberal studies & elementary education.
Kierstin Giunco of Saco earned a bachelor of arts in liberal studies & elementary education. Giunco graduated summa cum laude and with Distinction in the Field.
Emma Leisentritt of Eliot earned a bachelor of arts in English literature & performing arts: theater. Leisentritt graduated summa cum laude and with Distinction in the Field.
Keyana Reid of York earned a bachelor of arts in liberal studies & elementary education. Reid graduated magna cum laude.
Autumn Dube of Biddeford earned a bachelor of arts in English – communication & media studies. Dube graduated cum laude.
Amelia Jule of South Berwick earned a bachelor of arts in management.
Seth Woodsum of Arundel earned a bachelor of arts in management.
Courtney Burns of York earned a bachelor of arts in psychology (counseling and health). Burns graduated summa cum laude.
