SACO — The Thornton Academy youth wrestling team competed in an end of the season tournament this past weekend and a handful of grapplers took home hardware.

Talan Berube capped off his impressive season with a first-place finish in the kindergarten division, as well as Trevor Peel who also took home first.

Ryan Cote would later take home second place along with teammate Travis Lutz.

Lutz had an impressive outing for the Trojans, competing in two different weight classes and finishing second in both the third-fourth grade and fifth-sixth grade classes. Nick Turner also took home second place on the day.

Jacob Pelton would later place third, as well as Adam Cole.

Berube later finished in fourth place in the first-second grade division as well as Fred Gray who placed fourth.

The Thornton Academy youth wrestling team is Saco’s first-ever youth wrestling program. The Trojans are led by coaches Allen Berube, Marty Adams, Josh Beyea, Andrew Tripp, Roger Souliere, Ryan Toussaint and volunteer Patty Ann Daigle.
