SANFORD — In an SIS Bank tradition, each spring at its annual meeting, three of the bank’s corporators are chosen at random to select a local nonprofit to receive a $1,000 donation.

This year, Rick Stanley opted for the Animal Welfare Society, Bruce Lamb selected Sanford-Springvale YMCA, and Marcel Payeur chose Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

“Our annual meeting with our Corporators sets the tone for our entire year of community support.  Every year three of our Corporators select very worthy recipients, and this year is no exception,” said Mark T. Mickeriz, President & CEO of SIS Bank.

Based out of Scarborough, the Maine Children’s Cancer Program is a branch of the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital dealing with pediatric cancer. The MCCP provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment resources for children with cancer and blood disorders, offering a wealth of services to young patients and their families in a compassionate environment close to home.

The Sanford-Springvale YMCA has served the area since 1947, working tirelessly toward its goals of fostering healthy spirits, minds and bodies of local children and families. Through promoting the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, the YMCA enhances quality of life throughout the community.

The Kennebunk shelter offers multiple community programs, such as Pets and Women to Safety, Paws Across America, Humane Education, Behavior and Training classes and the Shelter Spay/Neuter Clinic. Donations and endowments all go toward providing these services and fulfilling the mission of AWS.

“We’re honored to help our neighborhoods through the goodwill of Mr. Stanley, Mr. Lamb and Mr. Payeur,” Mickeriz said.
