PORTLAND — The Maine WTR Resource Center will be educating the public about the opportunities for resisting war and violence during a three-week campaign called “Resist War: Global Days of Action in Maine.”

Some locations around the state include:

• Portland’s Monument Square, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. April 18.

• Belfast Food Coop, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 15.

• UMaine, Orono, Memorial Union, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 18.

• Waterville Castonguay Square, noon to 5 p.m. April 8.

The Maine WTR Resource Center encourages taxpayers to educate themselves by talking with war tax counsellors to understand fully the investment they are making when they pay their taxes.

This year is different from the past because, through the US budget process, proposals are to shift funding from the social safety net to increase spending on the military.

Vote with your dollars to say, “No taxation without representation” and no taxation to fuel violence and climate change. Divest from the Pentagon.
