BOSTON

The Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team rolled to its fifth consecutive win, coasting to a 20-6 non-conference win at UMass-Boston on Tuesday evening.

The 18th-ranked Polar Bears never trailed and improved to 5-2 on the year. The Beacons dropped to 3-4.

Bowdoin jumped to a 7-0 lead after one quarter and scored the first 10 goals of the game to take command early. Jeff Powers scored three times in the surge, while Drew Hillman assisted on three tallies in the early going.

The Polar Bears held a 10- 2 edge at halftime and exploded for seven more goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Brandon Lee and Cal Fullerton scored twice each in the third period as Bowdoin owned a 17-3 lead heading to the final quarter.

Thirteen different players scored for the Polar Bears, led by Lee, who had three goals and two assists. Powers also collected a hat trick for Bowdoin. Jeffrey Odiorne had a goal and three helpers, while James Strabley had two and two for the Polar Bears. Hillman also had three assists for Bowdoin.

John Young made four saves, allowing three goals in 43:06 before giving way to Jack O’Connor, who stopped four shots and permitted two goals over 11:59. Matt Cote finished out the final 4:55 in net for Bowdoin, permitting one goal.

Bowdoin returns to conference play on Saturday when they will travel to play at Trinity at 1 p.m.
