On Thursday, March 16 at 7 PM at the Sanford Springvale Historical Museum, Lee Burnett, chairman of the Sanford Trails Committee will present “The Master Plan for the Sanford Trails and its Historical Significance for our Community.” All are welcome to attend. The Historical Museum is located at 505 Main St. in Springvale and is handicapped accessible.
Burnett grew up in western Massachusetts and came to Sanford in 1980 to take a reporter’s job at the Journal Tribune. After a 20-plus year career in journalism, he gravitated to grant writing, community development and forest conservation. Trails have been an abiding passion since college days when he worked on the AMC trail crew in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
