HOLLIS — All are safe after a fire in Hollis destroyed a barn late Thursday afternoon.
Hollis Fire Chief Chris Young said early this morning that crews were called to the scene on Old Alfred Road for a reported three-alarm barn fire at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
“When we got there, the fire was fully involved,” Young said.
Young said it took crews from 13 communities to extinguish the blaze, which he said spread to the barn’s attached house.
He said the fire was able to be extinguished before it caused significant damage to the main house.
A representative from the Hollis Fire Department said he believes an older couple resided at the home. Young said all occupants were able to evacuate and that there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Young said, and fire marshals will be on the scene throughout the day today as they work to determine a cause.
