SACO — Joseph Robert Fournier, 91, of Saco, passed away early Tuesday morning on Feb. 21, 2017, at home.

He was born in Westbrook on April 1, 1925, a son of Robert J. and Alice (Normand) Fournier). He was educated from Portland schools and Cheverus High School.

Joseph married his wife, Helen, on July 24, 1948. He served his country as a coast guard watcher during World War II.

Joseph was employed by SD Warren, Portland Machine Tool, Saco Lowell Shops and General Electric. He also worked for Hudson Paper, Portland Copper, Portland Company and Date General/EMC 2, retiring in 1989.

Joseph was treasurer for the Saco Little League and was on the committee for Boy Scouts Troop 371 in Saco.

Mr. Fournier was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen (Carll) Fournier; his son Joseph N. Fournier; and his daughter Bonnie J. Harrington and her husband Michael. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Tracey Fiengo and her husband Bryan and Tina Royce and her husband Curtis; and five great grandchildren Avianna, Bryan, Charlotte, Logan and Summer.

Visiting Hours will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
