CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Propelled by perhaps the best performance of senior captain Allison Hill’s star-studded career, the Bates College women’s track and field team tied Tufts and Middlebury for third place out of 29 point-scoring teams on Saturday in the New England Division III Women’s Indoor Championships at MIT.
Bates, Middlebury and Tufts all scored 62 points to round out the top five.
Hill of Brunswick clipped 0.13 seconds more off of her own team record in the 60- meter hurdles and tied the meet record with her time of 8.71 seconds. She then placed second in the 200 in 25.40 and helped Bates win the 4 x 400 relay for the first time in meet history.
With Hill running the lead-off leg, Bates took first place in a time of 3:57.40. She was followed by Paige Rabb, sophomore Ayden Eickhoff and senior captain Claire Markonic. Bates was second when Markonic received the baton, but the Bobcats defeated runner-up Williams by 3.05 seconds.
Hill entered the weekend already ranked first in Division III in the 60 hurdles.
Bates will compete in the all-divisions Open New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
