St. Philip’s Church at 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, is hosting a bean and casserole supper on Feb. 18, with seatings from 5-6 p.m. The charge is by donation with all proceeds going to help the church match a Maine Community Foundation grant to aid in the church’s steeple’s reconstruction.
Several variations of beans will be offered, from vegan to vegetarian to meat lovers. Along with the beans, attendees will have a choice of hot dogs — meat and vegan — salads, casseroles, breads, desserts and beverages. No donation is too small or too large.
The St. Philip’s steeple is the oldest and tallest of the Wiscasset skyline. It was designed by eminent 19th century architect Francis H. Fassett, who also designed the church’s American Gothic rectory. Since 1857, the steeple has presided over weddings, baptisms, funerals, and Sunday services, as well as many outreach activities.
For questions or to make a reservation please call St. Philip’s at ( 207) 882- 7184. Leave your name, the number attending, and a return phone number for verification.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
