Nikki Bradstreet scored 18 points to lead the Mt. Ararat High School girls basketball team to a 45-40 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Oceanside on Tuesday.

The Eagles improved to 3-11 behind Bradstreet, who also pulled down eight rebounds, dished out three assists and picked up four steals.

Mt. Ararat, which visits Lewiston on Thursday at 7 p.m., started well, taking a 16-4 lead through a quarter. The Mariners struck back, out-scoring Mt. Ararat, 22- 8, in the second for a 26-24 halftime lead.

But the Eagles battled back, taking a 36-33 advantage heading to the fourth.

Katelyn Cox chipped in 10 points, including a pair of late free throws to put the game away. Sabrina Paetow added nine rebounds, with Kyla Greenleaf grabbing six boards and dishing out three assists.

Kalli Garver and Hope Butler had 10 points apiece for Oceanside.

At the free-throw line, the Eagles were 4-of-11 and the Mariners 3-of-4.

POLAND 49

The host Knights (10-5) defeated the Falcons (11-4) for the second time this year in Western Maine Conference action at Poland.

Freeport trailed throughout the first half, 13-6 and 21-16 at the quarter breaks. The Falcons rallied in the third quarter for a brief lead and only trailed 33-32 heading to the final frame.

Taylor Rinaldi paced Freeport with 16 points, followed by Regan Lynch with nine, and Megan Cormier and Jessie Driscoll with eight apiece.

Nathalie Theriault and Jess Seeley led Poland with 13 points apiece, with Theriault dishing out 10 assists.

Freeport is slated to visit Wells on Thursday at 7 p.m.

WISCASSET 25

Shie Smith had 10 points to pace the visiting Ramblers to a Mountain Valley Conference victory.

Wiscasset stayed with Winthrop through a quarter, trailing 11-10. But Winthrop pulled away in the second frame, leading 24-14 at the half.

Addie Chaperin chipped in eight points, while Wiscasset received eight points from Hayhlee Craig and seven from Grace Webber.

The Wolverines (1-15) are scheduled to visit Boothbay on Monday at 7 p.m.

The visiting Shipbuilders won each quarter en route to a KVAC win against Erskine Academy at South China.

Morse improved to 5-10 and hosts Medomak Valley on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The visitors led 8-5, 20-15 and 35-26 at the quarter breaks.

Noa Sreden had a game-high 16 points for Morse, with Hope Faulkingham adding 13 points. Sierra Wallace chipped in eight points, with Emma Gould picking up six and Mae Winglass five. Sreden also had five rebounds and six steals, while Faulkingham picked up 10 boards for the double-double.

Lydia Bouriter and Catherine Silva led the Eagles with six points apiece.

Morse sealed the contest by making 11 free throws in the fourth quarter. The Shipbuilders finished 18-of- 34 from the free-throw line.

Boys basketball

FREEPORT — Nate Chouinard nailed six 3- pointers and finished with a game-high 32 points to power Poland to a 61-57 WMC win over Freeport.

Both the Knights and Falcons left the court with 5-10 records.

Poland used a 20-12 scoring advantage in the second quarter for a 28-22 halftime lead. Chouinard had 23 points at the intermission.

Freeport clawed to within a point, 41-40, through three quarters.

Caleb Hodgkin chipped in 11 points in the win.

Eriksen Shea and Colby Wagner split 24 points down the middle for Freeport, which hosts Wells on Friday at 7 p.m. Toby Holt added 11 points.

WINTHROP 89

The undefeated Ramblers (16-0) cruised to an MVC win over the Wolverines, who dropped their fourth straight and stand at 9-8 heading into their regular-season finale at home against rival Boothbay on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.

After a close opening half, Winthrop put the game away with a 21-10 run in the third quarter, turning a 43-35 halftime lead into a 64-45 edge.

Jacob Hickey had 25 points, including five 3- pointers, while Cam Wood picked up 16.

Ethan James (15 points), Cody Reed (14) and Logan Orr (12) scored in double figures for Wiscasset.

PORTLAND — Alex Glidden had a five-point game to power Cape Elizabeth to a 9-0 victory over South Portland/Freeport/ Waynflete at Troubh Arena.

The Capers (7-4) led 3-0 after a period.

Matthew Laughlin, Andrew Pellechia and Philip Tarlin picked up a goal and assist each.

Joe Grant had 36 saves in the loss as the Red Riots (4-8-1) were out-shot, 45-14. Peter Haber had 14 saves for Cape Elizabeth.

The Red Riots visit Marshwood/Traip/Sanford on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.

LISBON — Lisbon opened its season with a 72-44 victory over Leavitt.

The Greyhounds (1-0), two-time state finalists, visit Edward Little on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Wesley Lucas powered the win with 18 points, followed by Jake Patenaude with 16 (two 3-pointers), Dawson Martel with 12 and Amanda Mason with 10.

Tanner Halverson and Mark Fournier paced Leavitt (0-1) with 10 points apiece.
