Josiah N. Collins born January 1, 1925 in Brunswick, Maine. The son of Josiah and Rosanna (Gagnon) Collins. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family, January 14, 2016 at the age of 92.

He went to local schools and graduated from Brunswick High School, class of 1943. Josiah met his sweetheart Dorothy Atwood of Old Orchard Beach at “The Pier” back when all the Old Big Bands played and they loved to dance. They married and had three daughters Linda, Rosanna and Patricia. During their almost 50 years of marriage they kept involved with the Lion’s Club, Topsham Special Police Department, 20 years with the voting polls in Topsham and shared their love of hockey, attending games of The Mariners/Portland Pirates.

Dad worked a variety of jobs from delivering ice for people’s refrigerators, Fox Lumber, Pratt Whitney in Conn., Pejepscot Paper Mill and retired from Bath Iron Works.

Dad was very talented making handcrafted wooden jewelry, liked to cook, loved to shop, helped build his very first home and adored his peanut M&M’s and Nonpariels. He also enjoyed watching football games, doing jig saw puzzles, playing cribbage in Cundy’s Harbor and with his friend Gary.

Mom and Dad loved to travel to faraway places such as Finland, Hong Kong and Alaska. They enjoyed riding the back roads, going up country hoping to see deer or moose and other wild life.

Dad was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, son and loved his grandchildren. Josiah was predeceased by his Mother ( Rosanna) in 1975, his Father ( Josiah Sr.) in 1925, brother Ralph in 1976, two sister’s Edith in 1982 and Josephine in 2002, his wife of almost 50 years Dorothy 1996 and granddaughter Melisa Nettles in 2014, daughter of Rod and Linda Bauer.

He leaves behind 3 daughter’s Linda ( Bauer ) , husband Rod, Rosanna ( Welner ) husband James ( Tom ) and Patricia Cooke. Grandchildren Greg, Amy, Lori, Jeremiah, Jamie, Neil, Andrea and great grandchildren Shannon, Nathan, Gregory, Langston, Brennan, Barrett and Alexis. Great great grandchildren Mia, Alisa and Jacoby.
