DELAND, Fla. — Rose P. Bertrand, 96 of DeLand, Florida passed away Jan. 6, 2017.

She was born Oct. 20, 1920, the daughter of the late William and Alphonsine Lasante Pelletier.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Wilfrid Bertrand; brothers, Fred, Leo and Roland Pelletier; and sisters, Cecile Blais and Georgette Lavigne.

Ms. Rose is survived by: her daughter, Connie Bolton Harrell; granddaughter, Wendy (Beau) Williford; and great-grandson who put the sparkle in her eyes, Logan Williford. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister-in-law, Alice Bertrand, and many nieces and nephews. Rose worked at the West Point Pepperell Textile Mill for 25 years before she and Wilfrid left Biddeford in 1964 for Hollywood, Florida.

After Wilfrid’s death in 1976, Rose moved to DeLand, Florida, in 1980, where she made many friends, traveled and enjoyed her family.

Every summer for as long as she physically could, Rose returned to Maine to spend her summers, visit friends and family and attend Biddeford High School, Class of 1939, reunions.

An active member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Rose loved having her friends and family visit and call.  In recent years, she has had many of her nieces and nephews visit from Maine and Australia. So many local friends continued to visit her and keep her spirits up.

The family appreciates everyone who helped her pass the hours happily. We also appreciate The Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Center for the loving care they provided for nearly two years and Mom’s Angel, Stacey Ming her nursing aide who kept Mom well cared for and loved.

The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a catered event to follow.
