Freeport sweeps Sacopee Valley
Madeline Suhr scored 20 points as the Brunswick High School girls basketball team rolled to a 54-30 Class A South win over Falmouth on Tuesday.
The Dragons improved to 3-1 and hosts Leavitt on Thursday (6:30 p.m.), while the Yachtsmen fell to 2-2.
Suhr dominated, picking up eight rebounds, eight steals and three assists to go along with five blocked shots.
Brunswick led 13-5 after a quarter, 26-15 at the half and 41-24 through three quarters.
Charlotte MacMillan tossed in 12 points in the win along with six rebounds and five steals.
Alaina Birkel and Hadley Wiggin split 12 points down the middle for Falmouth.

The host Falcons steadily pulled away for a Western Maine Conference victory over Sacopee Valley.
Freeport (3-1) has won three straight and hosts Traip Academy on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Falcons held quarter leads of 9-7, 20-16 and 30-23.
Regan Lynch paced the win with 12 points, with teammate Taylor Rinaldi adding 10.
The Falcons were 16-of-30 from the free-throw line, with the Hawks finishing 12- of-24.

The Bobcats improved to 5-0 with a non-conference win over the 1-3 Saints at Richmond.
Mackenzie Abbott paced the win with 12 points, with Meranda Martin tossing in eight points and six boards, and Cassidy Harriman adding seven points and five rebounds. Sidney Underhill- Tilton had a game-high 19 rebounds for the Bobcats.
Chloe Bunnell had six points for St. Dom’s (1-3).
Richmond returns to action on Thursday at home against North Yarmouth Academy (5:30 p.m.).

The visiting Hawks held off a Shipbuilders rally for a non-conference win at Bath Middle School.
Morse fell to 1-3 and hosts Greely on Thursday. Marshwood improved to 4-0.
Marshwood held quarter leads of 11-4, 25-15 and 36-25.
“We were in the game, and this was a good confidence booster for us,” said Morse coach Becky Roak.
Marissa Parks had a double double for Morse with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Hope Faulkingham chipped in six points.
Noelle Barrett led Marshwood with 15 points.

The visiting Bulldogs shook off a slow start and rolled from behind for a Mountain Valley Conference win over Wiscasset (0-4).
The Wolverines frustrated Madison early, holding an 8-0 lead after a quarter.
But the visitors used a 17-2 second quarter for a 17-10 halftime lead and out-scored Wiscasset 19-6 in the third quarter for a 36-16 lead.
Sydney LeBlanc led Madison with 15 points.
Hayhlee Craig had a solid game for Wiscasset with 14 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Maeve Blodgett added 10 points.
Wiscasset is slated to visit Hall-Dale on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

The host Wildcats pulled away in the fourth quarter for a Class A South win over the Eagles, who fell to 0-4 and visits Falmouth on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Mt. Ararat hung tough, trailing 10-8, 23-16 and 33-29 at the quarter breaks. York (1-3) out-scored the visitors 13-7 in the fourth quarter.
Madigan Cogger led York with 10 points, with Morgan Chapman adding nine and Sophia Demick eight.
Nikki Bradstreet drained two 3-pointers and finished with 10 points for Mt. Ararat. Taylor Wienckowski and Kate Guerin each scored seven points.
Boys
RICHMOND — A 24-6 start got Richmond off to a good start en route to a 76-44 victory over St. Dom’s.
The Bobcats, who improved to 5-0 and hosts North Yarmouth Academy at 7 p.m. on Thursday, led 46- 16 at the half and 61-31 through three quarters.
Matt Holt and Zach Small each scored 18 points in the win, with Cody Tribbet adding 12 points and Matt Rines eight points and six assists. Small and Holt pulled down eight boards apiece.

The visiting Falcons earned their first win in WMC play with a come from victory against the Hawks (0-4) at South Hiram.
Sacopee Valley led 15-11 and 27-19 at the first two quarter breaks. But, Freeport (1-3) out-scored its hosts 14-4 in the third quarter to claim a 33-31 advantage.
Toby Holt and Connor Dostie led a balanced Freeport attack with nine points apiece, with Joey Burke picking up eight points.
Alex Mudgett had a game-high 14 points for Sacopee Valley.
The Falcons return to action at Traip Academy on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The host Bulldogs used a 22-2 scoring advantage in the third quarter to hand Wiscasset its first loss (3-1) in MVC play.
Madison (4-0) led 18-9 after a quarter and 36-29 at the intermission. But, the Wolverines had no answers in the third quarter, falling behind 58-31 after 24 minutes.
Mitch Jarvis paced the win with 21 points, while Nick Morales had 17 points and Sean Whalen 12.
Zach Reed led Wiscasset with 13 points, followed by Cody Roberts with 11 and Ethan James with eight.
Wiscasset hosts Hall-Dale on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

In a rematch of last year’s Class A South regional final, the host Yachtsmen steadily pulled away for a win over the Dragons, who dropped to 2-2 and visits Leavitt on Thursday (6:30 p.m.).
Falmouth led 17-10, 28-20 and 44-32 at the quarter breaks, thanks to 19 points from Colin Coyne.
Josh Dorr paced Brunswick with 10 points, with Nate Benoit adding eight.

Trevor LaBonte scored a game-high 35 points as the Wildcats picked up a Class A South win over Mt. Ararat.
The Eagles dropped to 1-3 and host Falmouth on Thursday at 7 p.m. York improved to 3-1.
Ryan Mello picked up 13 points and Cole Guerin had 10 for Mt. Ararat.
