Sir, your piece on the Electoral College was on point and informative.
I do wish you could have discussed some of the consequences that would occur if we did switch to popular vote for president. Our two party political system would crumble.
Imagine a presidential election with candidates from California, the northeast, the south, the mid-west and rust belt running concurrently. This would fracture the country.
Add to that the thought that our President might be elected with less than thirty million votes would bring certain chaos. It does seem our founders had far more intelligence then many of our current crop of politicians.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
