The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has tracked reported cases of Lyme disease in each U.S. county since 2000.

During that period, Lyme has become much more common, especially in Maine, which had only 71 reported cases in 2000, and 1,336 cases so far in 2016 as of Dec. 5.

Historically, the disease has been most common in the suburban counties of New York and Connecticut, but incidence of the disease in those areas has ebbed in recent years.
