PORTLAND (AP) – A business-led education advocacy group is holding a conference in Portland that will focus on increasing the number of skilled workers in the state.
Educate Maine held its Education Symposium on Friday from at an event designed to bring together business, public policy and education leaders for presentations and workshops.
The organization is also presenting the Weston L. Bonney Education Leadership Award to Timothy B. Hussey, the president and CEO of Hussey Seating Company.
Educate Maine says the award recognizes people who have shown leadership in helping Maine’s students get access to good education.
Educate Maine’s slogan is “Business Advocating for Education.” It puts a premium on college and career readiness.
