SACO—The Holiday Concert at Thornton Academy this year will feature musical selections from Concert Band, String Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Treble Choir, Chamber Singers, and Concert Choir.

The concerts are at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 in the Harry P. Garland II  Auditorium.

Tickets are available at www.thorntonacademy.org/arts (Box Office tab) for $4 for students/seniors and $5 for adults.

Tickets can also be purchased at Thornton Academy’s box office located in the Arts Office from
Monday through Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m., beginning Dec. 5 or by calling Doug Stebbins at 602-4471.

The evening is a showcase of talent in two installments. The first half will feature classic holiday favorites such as “The Polar Express” from the  Concert Band, selections from The Nutcracker by the Symphony Orchestra and “Feliz Navidad” from the Jazz Band.

During intermission guests will be delighted with the jazz combo performing some holiday favorites.

The three choirs will present the second half of the Holiday Concert.

Each  choir will perform a varied program featuring Holiday music as well as  Secular and Sacred music, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Santa Baby.”

The entire Concert Choir will grace the aisles of the theater as they progress to the stage with our traditional
candlelight processional “Still the Holiest Night.”

The Bands are under the direction of Jennifer Witherell-Stebbins, with the Orchestra directed by Anne Wilkinson and the Choirs directed by Catherine Murray. The Jazz Combo is directed by David Stebbins.
