On Dec. 2, Maine native and Grammy-Award winning pianist Paul Sullivan plays his “Christmas in Maine” series to the accompaniment of flute, cello and percussion at the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath. The following evening on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m., the Burns Sisters sing their Celtic Christmas show alongside guitarists Bobby Sweet and Josh Pincus.

Sullivan plays original compositions as well as traditional songs inspired by the season. Sullivan’s musical journey reaches from the jazz clubs of New York and the pit orchestras of Broadway to concerts around the world with the Paul Winter Consort. He has played with a wide variety of jazz masters, from Benny Goodman to Tommy Flanagan. He has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy, the Boston Pops under both Arthur Fiedler and Keith Lockhardt; and worked as a musical director, pianist, and conductor for many off-Broadway and Broadway shows. He played keyboards and shared the conducting duties for the original production of the musical “Nine,” which won a Tony Award for Best Musical.

The following evening, Dec. 3, sibling duo and contemporary folk musicians Annie and Marie Burns will perform as The Burns Sisters — presenting a collection of Christmas and Chanukah songs. From Ithaca, New York, the Burns Sisters have been gracing the Americana and folk music charts in the U.S. and Canada for 20 years. The sisters have shared the stage with many folk legends, including Arlo Guthie, Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger, Odetta, Jimmy Lafave, David Amram, Radoslav Lorkovic, Chris Thile, Fred Eaglesmith, Willie Nelson, Sarah Lee and Johnny Irions, Folk Uke, and even the Boston Pops. They have played venues from Carnegie Hall to the Grand Old Opry, and from hills of Northern Thailand to the hills of Clare Ireland.

Both shows are $15 for advance tickets, $18 at the door. The Chocolate Church Arts Center is located at 804 Washington St., Bath. Tickets are available at the box office at (207) 442-8455 or online at chocolatechurcharts.org.
