KENNEBUNKPORT — Golf items that once belonged to former President George H .W. Bush realized six times their original estimate in an online auction. 

 A representative of RR Auctions, said the golf items fetched $30,000. The original auction estimate was $5,000.

Bidding on the items in the online auction began in October and wound down Nov. 9.

The collection was given by Bush to a an employee of Cape Arundel Golf Club, who has since passed away, said Robert Livingstone, executive vice president of the Boston-based online auction house.

The former president played at the club.

The items, ranging from  Bush’s Titleist Scotty Cameron ‘Big Sur’ chest putter, engraved “George Bush,” his Callaway ‘Big Bertha’ golf bag, with  an attached Cape Arundel Golf Club membership tag, engraved, “President George H. W. Bush, Member,” his size 11 Nike Air golf shoes, to four of Bush’s personalized golf balls featuring his facsimile signature and the presidential seal.

As well, it included a Cape Arundel golf ball, and a box containing five Cape Arundel golf balls with presidential seals made to commemorate the 41st and 43rd presidents.

Mike Graff, a spokesman for RR auctions, said the winning bidder was a collector of presidential memorabilia from Florida, who wished to remain anonymous.
