After eight years of building its special event business under the direction of owner Eileen Hornor, The Brunswick Inn recently announced the hiring of executive chef Ali Waks-Adams.

Waks-Adams, a native of New York City, has assumed responsibility for catering operations at the 16-room inn, as well as the introduction of weekly Plat du Jour dinners.

“Ali brings to the inn an incredible new take on fresh, local fare,” said Hornor. “She is amazingly creative in her approach, with bold takes on old favorites and an embrace of what is new and exciting in the culinary world. And her food is as beautiful as it is delicious.”

Waks-Adams’ new menus for the inn include her Chef ’s Suggested Menus. Designed to take some of the work out of party planning, these feature choices such as the Cozy Autumn Celebration Dinner, which includes bacon and brussels sprouts skewers, boneless short ribs, coq au cidre, and salted butterscotch puddings. There is also the Fun & Funky Cocktail Party, which includes deviled eggs, sushi grade tuna poke and ultimate cheeseburger sliders with bacon jam, gruyere, and truffle mayo.

A la carte menus are available as well and feature entrees such as thyme, honey, and hazelnut glazed chicken breast with potatoes gratin and roasted carrots, or espresso smoked paprika filet mignon with shallot butter, steakhouse hash browns, and creamed spinach.

In addition to hosting special events, Hornor is also inviting the public to enjoy the inn’s bar and dining room on Tuesday nights for Plat du Jour dinners. With a choice of salad or soup, two entrees, and two desserts, these weekly dinners begin on Nov. 15 and will showcase Waks-Adams’ culinary creativity.

“I think people will really embrace the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal in the intimate ambiance of the inn,” said Hornor. “What could be better than a roast chicken for two and a glass of wine by the fire?”
