SACO — Despite erasing an early deficit, the Thornton Academy football team could not keep up with visiting Scarborough in the Class A South semis, falling 36-29.
The Red Storm would take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and later a 14-7 lead into the half.
The Trojans marched back in the third, begging the half with a long drive resulting in a rushing score from quarterback Mike Laverriere.
The two squads would then exchange touchdowns, with TA’s coming from Anthony Bracamonte on a 52-yard sweep to tie the score at 21-21.
Scarborough battled throughout the fourth quarter, and eventually took a 28-21 lead with four minutes remaining.
TA would strike back two minutes later to take a 29-28 lead, but the Red Storm would score the game-winner on a 28-yard pass to secure the win with 0:59 left.
Thornton finishes with a 7-2 record .
