“Katherine always makes me proud,” said Mt. Ararat coach Diane Fournier. “She is one of those individuals who does not need motivation from the coach, she is able to do that on her own and that is very special.”

The Eagles had 235 points to finish in 12th, with scoring coming from Sara York (52nd), Rebecca French (56th), Josie Miller (81st) and Caitlin Chambers (93rd).

In the boys race in Class A, Falmouth ran away with the title, accumulating 72 points. Deering was second with 116, followed by Massabesic (151), Windham (155) and Mt. Blue (158).

Mt. Ararat, behind a solid second-place showing from Cameron Meier (15:51.22) and a 10th-place finish from Lisandro Berry-Gaviria (16:23.80), placed eighth with 174 points, while Brunswick claimed 12th with 276 points.

“He’s an anomaly,” said Fournier of Meier. “There is something in his head, when he wishes to use it that makes him seem almost inhuman in what he can achieve.

“Cam worked on a lobster boat this summer and didn’t train according to the program he was given. So, he is really just starting to peak, he’s about 2-3 weeks behind where he was last year at this time.”
