From the Journal Tribune: “A 17-year-old Sanford teen remained in satisfactory condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland Friday following a stabbing Tuesday night. ‘The altercation occurred near Berwick Avenue, after the victim was confronted by a group of unidentified males walking towards him’ said Maj. Gordon Litchfield. Police earlier this week identified the victim as Jason Lafontaine.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “The Biddeford & Saco Gas Co. announced this morning that an appeal will be filed following a 2-1 split decision by the Maine Public Utilities Commission yesterday, awarding natural gas distribution rights in York County to the Portland Gas Light Co. The appeal will be made to the Maine Supreme Court.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Former City Treasurer, James L. Dyer died Sunday at his home on Concord Street, Portland. While Mr. Dyer’s health was not of the best at sometime, his demise will come as an unexpected sorrow to his friends. Deceased, whose age was 51, was born in Portland and most of his life was passed there.”
