Police: Man killed after car hits tree
NORTH BERWICK (AP) — Police in Maine say a man was killed after his car crashed into a tree in North Berwick.
It happened around 10:15 p.m. Thursday on state Route 4. The road was shut down for several hours while police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.
The victim wasn’t immediately identified.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. They say they don’t believe alcohol was a factor.
Trump makes another trip to Maine
AUGUSTA (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is making his fifth trip to Maine to rally supporters before Election Day.
Trump was paying a visit Friday to Lisbon in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, where Trump is focusing his efforts in hopes of winning at least one of the state’s four electoral votes.
The candidate has visited the state four times during his campaign, the latest of which was a rally held in Bangor on Oct. 15.
Maine is one of two states that split their electoral votes.
Deer gun hunting season looms
AUGUSTA (AP) — It’s a day of mixed emotions for Maine’s deer, as most of the archery hunting season is coming to a close, just in time for the firearms season to begin.
The archery season ends today in most areas. Maine’s “resident only” day for hunters who pursue deer with firearms takes place on Saturday.
