From the Journal Tribune: “The Biddeford High School Marching Band, with just a hair under 30 students participating this season, may be small. But musically, they’re a force to be reckoned with. First of all, they’re loud. ‘I’ve heard from other people that Biddeford is just loud,’ said junior Arielle Sorenson. ‘We may be small, but you can hear us. I guess we just project really well.’”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A young bank teller captured today a man who allegedly held up the West End branch of the Caso Bank & Trust Co. with a toy pistol. Stanley Locke, 25, chased the man along St. John St. and with help from a passerby pulled him back into the bank and held him for police. ”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Inconsolable over the loss of his wife, whose death occurred six months ago, George H. Merriman, aged 59, of Worcester, Mass., stabbed himself to death Tuesday with a pen knife at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Milliken, relatives with whom he was stopping at 60 Roberts St., Portland.”
