SANFORD — A 35-yearold Sanford man is free on $500 unsecured bail after being arrested on child pornography charges Thursday.

Robert Gouin, 124 Emery St., was taken into custody after members of the Maine State Police computer crimes unit after Sanford Police and federal Department of Homeland Security searched his apartment.

He is charged with Class C felony possession of sexually explicit material. If convicted, he could be sentenced to as many as five years in state prison.

Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Friday that the computer crimes unit received a tip, which led to the search and subsequent arrest.

An initial examination of Gouin’s electronic equipment showed dozens of images and videos of child porn, McCausland said.

Gouin was taken to York County Jail, and was later released on the unsecured bail, according to a corrections officer. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in December.
