South Portland has announced the finalists for the position of city manager. They are Edward Collins, a current resident of South Portland formerly from Utah, and James “Ty” Ross of Georgia, according to a press release issued by Don Gerrish, the interim manager.
The final round of interviews will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 2 and 3. During those two days both candidates will meet with department heads and the superintendent of schools, as well as sit down with the City Council for a second interview, the press release said.
In addition, on Nov. 2 the public is invited to an informal meet and greet with each candidate and their spouse. The gathering will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the senior wing of the Community Center.
The council then anticipates announcing the name of the new city manager and his starting date the following week, the release added.
