Community Harvest soiree Oct. 27

KENNEBUNKPORT — On Oct. 27, Community Harvest, a nonprofit organization serving Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Arundel, will host its annual Savory & Sweet Soiree at the Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport. The Savory & Sweet Soiree is a benefit auction that helps raise funds to support year-round Community Harvest programs, which assist residents in the tri-town area.

The auction kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with chances to bid on various items donated by local businesses. Guests will get a chance to bid on items such as a gift certificate from the Hurricane Restaurant, a sea bag from Daytrip Society, art from Love Rocks Maine, a bird bath from Marlows, and a rug from Dock Square Emporium, to name a few. Tickets may be purchased for $20 in advance by calling 967-1911 or for $25 at the door.

“What is better than bidding on some unique local items and then capping it off with a slice of some homemade pie? The Savory & Sweet Soiree is a great way to show support for your neighbors, and it is a perfect way to spend an autumn evening,” said Jeanne Gomez, a member of Community Harvest’s board of directors. “The soiree is one of Community Harvest’s biggest fundraisers. All the benefits go to Community Harvest’s year-round programs like Harvest Café, Project Pilgrim and the Noel Dinner, which serve over 1,200 meals to people in need.”

Eva Barnfather, Community Harvest’s Savory & Sweet Soiree chairperson, is ready to deliver over 20 pies for this sweet event. “We’ll have all the favorites – strawberry rhubarb, lemon-meringue, blueberry and chocolate cream. And for those of you who are looking for seasonal pies, we’ll have apple and pumpkin pie,” said Barnfather. “I have a team of dedicated volunteers who bake from sunrise to sunset the day before the Savory & Sweet Soiree. We couldn’t pull this event off without their baking expertise.”

Donations of gift certificates, art, crafts and services are still being accepted. If you are interested in making a donation of any kind to Community Harvest’s Savory & Sweet Soiree, call 967-1911.
