SACO — Lucy T. Puchek, 96, of Worcester and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Seal Rock Health Care.

She was born April 17, 1920, in Worcester, a daughter of Vincent and Mary (Russek) Pacanowski, and was educated there.

On Aug. 8, 1948, she married Adam Puchek at the “Little Church Around the Corner” after eloping to New York City.

In 1952, they moved from Worcester to Shrewsbury, where they raised their daughters.

Lucy worked as a stitcher in the upholstery industry, and for several years at Saint Gobain (formerly Norton Abrasives) in Worcester. She retired in 1985.

Working with Adam on the yard that they had carved out of the woods behind their home was one of her great joys. They loved music and dancing, and enjoyed winter vacations in Florida and visiting their daughters in Maine and California. Lucy also loved winning at cards and at the casino.

She was preceded in death by Adam, her husband of 58 years, on June 6, 2007; two sisters, Viola Wistaris and Sophie Naumiec; and a brother, Charles Pacanowski.

She is survived by: two daughters, Madelyn Conroy and husband John of Biddeford, and Linda Sereno of Rancho Cucamonga, California; five grandchildren, Jason Conroy and significant other Jiayang Chien of Arlington, Massachusetts, Matthew Conroy and wife Kristi of Winchester, Massachusetts, Sarah Conroy and fiancé Chris Golden of Boston, Daniel Sereno and wife Nazari of Hollywood, California, and Mark Sereno of Glendale, California; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 2- 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. To share condolences online , please visit HopeMemorial.com.
